Revisinting the bildungsroman: a challenge for pedagogical thinking

Abstract

The pedagogical implantation of the Bildungsroman responds to the need to support the process of defining human

Identity.  This support has the burden of a double operation that recognises and seeks human identity as a narrative identity: it marks that unity that makes it possible to affirm that an identity is the same today as it was yesterday and will be tomorrow; it acts as a constant reminder so that each identity creates a story that is its own.

As much as the pedagogical implantation of the bildungsroman still confirms its original function, the current configuration of experience requires a reinterpretation in order to maintain its effectiveness.

In this regard, it may be useful to examine the narrative structures that are not immediately attributable to the Bildungsroman. This paper therefore aims to analyse the structure of television series and, through the example of Arcane: League of Legends, to identify those new elements that would allow the idea of the Bildungsroman to be translated and confirmed in other forms.
