On the Neoliberal personality. Pedagogical considerations
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article develops some pedagogical considerations on the existence of a neoliberal personality in the population of the West. After a brief reference to the responsibilities of neoliberalism at the roots of the current condition of social crises, a description of this character profile is provided, which incorporates many traits of pathological narcissism as they decline in our age. It is also argued that the spread of this type of personality is one of the ways of exercising power by neoliberal policies, putting left thinking in check. The article closes by reiterating the concern for the endemic increase of this form of character and with a reference to the fight against social inequalities as a real possible alternative to its further diffusion. Hence the role of a critical pedagogy and a pedagogy of inclusion in exercising a credible opposition to the predominance of pathological narcissism in the population, especially in its neoliberal version.
