Abstract

The notion of sustainability over the last two decades has been enriched with wide cultural connotations. It has been focusing on the issues integration related to different disciplines in order to consider the theoretical and operational connections among the environmental, social and economic dimensions of human life. The main target of the essay, without any pretense of exhaustiveness, is to investigate if and in what terms sustainability can become a guideline. It can lead the school’s educational pathways by building and strengthening the students’ soft skills and feeding ethical and values behaviors to build the terrestrial community. The Encyclical Laudato Si’ offers important interpretative keys to plan and to structure heuristic approaches in the sign of the common good, between ecology of the environment and human ecology.
