Creating opportunities: the gift of fair trade. Some reflections for the educational and pedagogical field

Abstract

The paper intends first to deepen the concept of gift within an alternative economic circuit to the traditional market, fair trade, going to identify the opportunities that this economic alternative offers to hundreds of thousands of people in the world. Subsequently, taking up the inspiring principles of this trade, the links with the educational field will be outlined, also showing an example of the path taken with secondary schools in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Finally, we will try to sketch some reflections and some feedback for the pedagogical field, trying to sketch, also thanks to the suggestions of intercultural education to social justice, the traits of what could be a more equitable school for everyone.
