Global citizenship education (GCED) approaches and their impact on students’ civic engagement

Abstract

The paper reports on a work package (WP 7) related to a Nationally Relevant Research Project (PRIN) entitled “Global Civic Education. Transforming global citizenship education into practice through civic education” (GloCivEd), involving three different research units. The overall aim of the investigation was to explore high school students’ representations of global citizenship education issues and the impact that civic and global citizenship education can have in terms of young people’s civic engagement. The epistemological framework is systemic-constructivist, and the qualitative methodology used is Thematic Analysis.
