The Limit between vulnerability and possibility

Abstract

The sciences and techniques have endowed the man with amazing powers, which have allowed him to overcome every limit: fast movements, unlimited communication, internet, miraculous cures are just some examples that show man-made prodigies. In this technical landscape, medicine, economics, religion and psychoanalysis have reigned, bringing with them their own specific logic (U. Galimberti, 2005). But a reading of the complexity of social, individual and collective phenomena passes right between the limit and the indefinite, the measured and the non-measurable, and even today it re-proposes a speculative and pedagogical need for Vichian memory. The experience of the limit is accompanied by the experience of precariousness, fragility, loss in which it is difficult to find elements of balance and stability and, therefore, of certainty. Speaking of pain, of loss, of limits, therefore, is not easy but the fact that the comparison with the limit is fundamental for growth, for identification, for the construction of one's own identity and that of others cannot remain untold.Today, in which it seems that the main social objective is to make insensitive to suffering, to alleviate every type of fatigue, trying to eliminate all forms of risk, fighting against everything and everyone, which means talking about limits? What place does the limit occupy in anthropological and pedagogical reflection in particular?
