The educational innovation at school: facilitating factors and barriers. A european research on the field

Abstract
Innovative pedagogies at school is not a very investigated topic. European Union funded a three years long project aimed to study tools and policy pointers for mainstreaming innovative pedagogies and school organisaton practices. The project studied all the European countries in a general way and deepened its understanding of barriers and obstacles via field study in progressive schools in regions socio-economic disadvantaged that have successfully taken innovative approaches to improving teaching and learning in new ways, combining interviewing school leaders with observation and mapping available data. In Italy the field study was held in Sicily.
